How to use this school
I am so happy you found me!! Here's a little run down on how to use this school to your full potential.
Self Guided: This school is completely self guided. You can move through the videos as fast or as slow as you would like, in whatever order you like, and repeat them as often as you desire (in fact I recommend repeating the guided movement explorations and drills often).
Tutorials: All the tutorial/pathway videos are in order from easy to difficult (as approximate as I could get), so moving from beginning to end in these sections will work best if you are a silk fan beginner.
Names in Tutorials: I use my own unique terminology and names for the skills/pathways. For some I use common names, but many were unnamed. I created terminology that made sense to me, so I will reference these unique names when teaching choreography.
Choreography: New choreo videos will be uploaded every few months, so there is always something new to be learning. Once you learn the choreography, feel free to post videos of yourself dancing and tag #chrysalissilkstudies and @raechrysalis ! If you have any requests/feedback on songs, difficulty level, or styles, send an email to [email protected]
Guided Movement Explorations: These are designed to unearth your unique movement language. There are a variety of videos exploring confidence, levels, rhythm, fan tutting, speed and more. I encourage you to repeat these videos often to push your edges, allowing you to access new ways of speaking through movement.
Drills: These are designed to lock the skills into your body, so you can get out of your head and into your flow state. And also to develop and smooth out your transitions between movements. I recommend running these often (they are a great warmup). I will be adding new drill videos on occasion, so keep an eye out for these!
Fans: If you haven't already purchased a pair of silk fans, I have developed a line of practice fans that are the perfect length and build for beginners! If you are looking for a colorful pair, I recommend The Bamboo Closet. You can find her on Instagram at @thebamboocloset and on Etsy.
After Completion: After you complete Level I or if this level is feeling too easy for you, I would recommend exploring Level II of the school. This program goes into advanced and professional level skills, technique, and trainings. It is also excellent to do in tandem with Level I to build your skills and artistic expression most quickly. Here is a link to the discounted bundle where you have access to 100+ video trainings!
Big blessings to you on your silk fan journey. xo
